...it just reads a little harsh to me. "Perhaps it is time for politicians to keep the few remaining intimate details of their existence safely stored away," says Walkom, but this seems myopic. I get the idea about public manipulation sure, but this overlooks that both the media and their consumers have created an insatiable demand for exactly those "intimate details." This was front page news yesterday. If the media is going to dig into people's private lives under the rubric of the public's right to know, than politicians trying to jump the gun and control the story is going to happen. Moreover, McGuinty is right it did take some courage to tell people. I'd rather have a Minister in charge who has some empathy than the Harrisites that were more interested in cutting funding to the bone.
